Throughout the year students have challenged themselves, refined their skills, and brought their visions to life and the Fashion Show gives students the opportunity to share their work and give audiences the privilege of witnessing the outcomes of all their efforts.

The Fashion Show was split into distinct sections, each with its own story to tell, and each wowing the audience with the standard of work on show!

Deconstruct

Presented by Year 1 Art, Design and Communications students, the work in this showcase was produced in their Fashion & Textiles class and involved students taking old or unwanted clothes, deconstructing them, experimenting with draping on a mannequin, and finally reconstructing the clothes into new ideas for fashion, changing both the form and the function of the original items.

The Body is My Canvas

In November 2025, Fashion & Textiles and Media Make-up students exhibited work in a fashion show and exhibition at Craven Arts in Skipton. This collaborative project entitled “The Body is My Canvas” explored the human form as a dynamic medium for artistic impression. In class students immersed themselves in the works of renowned artists and designers sparking inspiration for their own innovative concepts. Students aimed to create striking, bold designs that redefined the relationship between art, fashion, and the human form.

Coalescence

This project celebrated the moment where research, experimentation, and imagination merge. Throughout this project our talented Fashion & Textiles students embarked on a rich journey of discovery, capturing inspiring moments, exploring contemporary artwork, and closely observing everyday objects and textures. From these varied sources they wove personal narratives and fused them into unified design concepts.

Masks

The brief for this final project, curated and designed by Media Make-up students was to reflect the realities of the television industry through a fictional crime drama set right here in Skipton! From work creating burns and bruises to the aftermath of an altercation and a bicycle accident, students ended at a prestigious masquerade ball themed “Coalescence”, exploring the fusion of contrasting ideas.

Final Major Project

In the final project of the year, students propose their own themes; something that inspires them to create, communicate, and combine all the skills they have acquired from their chosen pathway.

Each student created their own capsule collection of fashion items, demonstrating their ability to research, explore, problem solve, and experiment – preparing themselves for their next steps to university or professional work within the industry.

LauraLee Brennand, Lecturer in Art & Design said, “Thank you to all our talented students for your incredible creativity, hard work, and dedication throughout the year. I feel very blessed to have taught these students this year and I am going to miss them all!

A heartfelt thank you to all our families, friends and audience members for your continued support and for being with us tonight. It means the world to our students to share their successes with you.”
