Try life drawing in a relaxed and supportive taster session and build confidence capturing the human form.
This introductory, tutor-led taster sessions are designed to help you develop your observational drawing skills in a relaxed and supportive studio environment. Ideal for beginners, each session offers an accessible introduction to life drawing techniques.
Working from a life model, you will explore proportion, shape, line and tone using a range of traditional drawing materials. Sessions include a mix of short poses to build confidence and quick observation, alongside longer poses to allow for more detailed study.
These sessions are suitable for complete beginners or anyone wishing to try life drawing before committing to a longer course.
Please note that life models may be male or female. All participants must be aged 18 or over.
What you will learn:
- Introduction to life drawing and studio etiquette
- Observing and measuring proportion
- Drawing the human figure using line and tone
- Quick gesture drawing techniques
- Developing studies from longer poses
- Exploring different drawing materials such as charcoal and graphite
Entry Requirements
- No prior experience is necessary – just enthusiasm and a willingness to learn a new skill.
- You must be aged 18 or over.
Information
All materials required are included in the course fee.
Please bring:
- An apron or old clothing to protect against drawing materials
- Optional: A sketchbook if you have one
- A drink and snack (there will be a short break)
