Unlock the creative potential of your photography by learning the fundamentals of professional photo editing. Develop the skills to enhance, refine and transform your images with confidence.

This course introduces the essential post-processing techniques used to improve and polish digital photographs. Working step by step, you will learn how to edit your images using industry-standard software and develop an effective editing workflow.

Each week, you will explore key tools and techniques including colour correction, tonal adjustment, cropping and composition refinement. The course focuses on helping you make thoughtful editing decisions that enhance your photographs while maintaining their natural quality.

By the end of the course, you will feel confident editing your own images and producing well-finished results suitable for printing or sharing digitally.

  • Importing, organising and managing image files
  • Basic colour correction and white balance
  • Exposure, contrast and tonal adjustments
  • Cropping and refining composition
  • Enhancing images for print and screen
  • Developing a consistent editing style

Entry Requirements

Basic camera skills are recommended. Completion of Introduction to Digital Photography or equivalent experience would be beneficial, but not necessary.

Information

Please bring your images either on a camera with its SD card and a ‘card reader’ or a download cable, or as files on an external hard drive or USB.

College computers and software will be provided.
