Design and create your own set of six unique ceramic coasters in this hands-on pottery workshop. Perfect for beginners looking to explore working with clay.
In this practical and creative workshop, you will learn the basics of working with stoneware clay while making a set of six coasters from scratch. Guided by an experienced tutor, you will explore a range of hand-building techniques and decorative surface methods.
You will have the opportunity to experiment with texture, pattern, and design to create a personalised set of coasters or small decorative tiles. Your finished pieces will be fired after the session and will be ready for collection at a later date.
What you’ll learn:
- Introduction to clay and basic hand-building techniques
- Rolling and shaping clay to an even thickness
- Cutting and forming coaster shapes
- Creating surface patterns and textures
- Finishing and refining edges
- Understanding the drying and firing process
Entry Requirements
No prior experience is necessary – just enthusiasm and a willingness to learn a new skill
Information
All materials required to create your coasters are included in the course fee.
For your safety and comfort, please bring:
- Closed-toe footwear
- Long hair tied back
- No valuable jewellery
- Optional: an apron (aprons are available to borrow)
- A drink and snack (there will be a short break)
