Discover the fundamentals of ceramics in this hands-on five-week course. Learn how to shape, decorate and finish your own clay pieces in a supportive studio environment.
This course provides an introduction to working with clay and basic ceramic techniques. You will learn how to create a variety of simple forms, including pinch pots, slab-built pieces and tiles, while developing confidence in handling and shaping clay.
You will also explore a range of decorative surface techniques to add pattern and texture to your work. As the course progresses, you will be introduced to underglaze and glazing methods, helping you to refine your pieces and achieve a finished result.
By the end of the course, you will have produced a selection of ceramic items and gained a strong foundation in key techniques, preparing you for further study in ceramics.

Entry Requirements
No prior experience is necessary – just enthusiasm and a willingness to learn a new skill.
Information
All materials required are included in the course fee.
For your safety and comfort, please bring:
- Closed-toe footwear
- Long hair tied back
- No valuable jewellery
- A drink and snack (there will be a short break)
Please note: your work will need to be fired and will be available to collect at a later date.
