Craven College’s Plastering Team has secured a Gold Standard, awarded by the renowned international company British Gypsum; a fantastic achievement for our College.

The Construction team ensured they hit all the requirements to become a Thistle Partnership Gold Status College, which they have done so successfully every year since it was introduced in 2017.

The accolade was obtained through sector-focused professional training, on and offsite visits, demonstrations, promotion, and competition entry into the prestigious annual Plaisterers’ Training Awards in London. The valued partnership between the College and British Gypsum also allows students to work with high-quality construction materials through generous donations from British Gypsum.

Established in the Construction sector for over 100 years, British Gypsum is known worldwide for being at the forefront of the industry through the development and use of drylining partitions, wall linings, ceiling sand plastering finishes.

Ryan Seeley at Saint-Gobain Interior Solutions, which is part of British Gypsum said, “Your college is the cream of the crop when it comes to our Thistle Partnership. Over the past year you have worked to meet all of our criteria, as well as going above and beyond what we have asked of you, to offer your learners, and by extension our industry, the best possible opportunities to get people into the trade.”

Steve Syers, Lecturer in Plastering at Craven College says, “Craven College and myself have had a great relationship with British Gypsum for over 15 years and have continued to secure their Gold standard. As a college, we are indebted to them for their continued support and would struggle without their supply and use of their materials.”
