Students enjoy Trip to Paris
30 excited Travel & Tourism, Aviation and Business students flew out of Leeds Bradford Airport to enjoy the sights and sounds of the French capital.
With the weather slightly less than ideal, spirits were not dampened, and the students and staff enjoyed an amazing few days sampling the very best Paris has to offer.
On the first day, the group visited North Paris including The Louvre and Victor Hugo’s House. They then walked down the famous Champs Elysee to the Arc de Triomphe. They got into the festive spirit with a trip to the Christmas Market at the Jardin des Tuileries.
With the shortened autumn days, students were able to sample the delights of an evening in Paris seeing the world-famous Moulin Rouge, before a visit to the more tranquil surroundings of Sacre Coeur.
Day two dawned bright and sunny, just perfect for some Disney Magic with a visit to Disneyland Paris. Crush’s Coaster, Ratatouille and the Hollywood Tower of Terror proved the highlights of a fabulous day of fun!
The final day was somewhat of a shock with the arrival of snow, the first snow Paris has had in three years! Despite the freezing temperatures, the day was packed with fun including a snowball fight at the top of the Montparnasse Tower, although the famous view was a casualty of the snowstorm. The Eiffel Tower was closed due to the snow; however, spirits were bolstered with macarons – you can’t visit Paris without a macaron! Students then enjoyed a cruise down the River Seine, before returning to the Eiffel Tower to watch the lights in the dark.
The trip formed part of the students’ work surrounding looking at travel by air, and Paris as a tourist destination; including what the city has to offer for visitors. The students were also forming a marketing project, to sell the trip to next year’s cohort including videos, TikToks, and interviews – well out of their comfort zone.
Nikki Chestnutt, Head of Aviation, Travel & Tourism said, “This trip was, for many students, their first experience of travelling abroad and gave them a chance to sample and enjoy activities that they wouldn’t have the opportunity to do.
“One of the best moments was entering a silent Sacre Coeur in the evening, and hearing the nuns start to sing. It was incredibly beautiful and like nothing we’d experienced before.
“The trip involved students facing things they hadn’t face before and they rose to the challenge and had an amazing time.”
