Business Administration Assistant Apprenticeship

As an Administration Assistant, you will develop a highly transferable set of knowledge, skills and behaviours that can be applied in a wide range of workplaces.

The main purpose of the role is to carry out routine administrative tasks that support the day‑to‑day operations of an organisation. You will work under supervision, following set procedures, and play an important role in supporting colleagues and ensuring the organisation runs efficiently.

In this role, you will support your team by completing a variety of administrative duties. These may vary depending on the organisation and team you work in, but typically include:

  • Carrying out routine data entry and record keeping
  • Using digital systems and tools to collate, extract and input information
  • Supporting colleagues with administrative tasks to meet deadlines and quality standards
  • Communicating with internal and external stakeholders in a professional manner
  • Assisting with organisational priorities as directed by your supervisor

You may also work across different departments such as IT, finance or human resources, acting as a point of contact when required.

As part of the Apprenticeship, you will have monthly workplace visits from a Learning Development Advisor, with 6 hours per week off the job training which will be tracked. You will build a portfolio showing your work-based evidence.

Entry Requirements

  • Ideally, you will have 3 GCSEs grade 9-4 including English & maths or equivalent
    Those without English or maths at Level 1 must achieve this prior to taking the end-point assessment

  • Use digital tools and software to input, update and retrieve information
  • Create, format and check documents, reports and records

  • Store and share information securely and confidentially
  • Support colleagues to meet deadlines, budgets and quality standards
  • Plan and review your workload with your supervisor
  • Identify issues, check your own work and escalate concerns when needed
  • Work safely and responsibly in line with organisational requirements
  • Use feedback and reflection to support your ongoing development
