Craven College Strengthens Land-Based Offering

Craven College has added to its repertoire of land-based courses with two new Level 2 courses, Forestry and Arboriculture, and Agriculture.

Level 2 Agriculture, Forestry and Arboriculture

The Agriculture course is perfect for students with ambitions to work with livestock, in crop production, or in the agricultural machinery industry. Students will study a range of modules including Farming and Agricultural Estate Management, Livestock Health and many more!

The Level 2 Agriculture course lends itself perfectly for students wishing to study further either at Level 3 or an apprenticeship. With the relevant progression potential careers include Farm Technician, Assistant Farm Manager, Agricultural Engineer, Estate Supervisor/Manager, Stocksperson, Groundskeeper, and Animal Control Offer.

The Level 2 Forestry and Arboriculture course aims to give the skills and practical hands-on experience- for those students with ambitions to work in commercial forestry or urban tree management.

Learning amongst other modules Tree Work Placement and Practical Tree Work Skills, this course is the perfect basis for students who wish to progress to further study at Level 3 or an apprenticeship. Potential career opportunities include Forestry Worker, Commercial/Domestic Arborist, and Park Ranger.

Danielle Fox, Head of Department for Land-Based Provision said “Our goal within the department is to cultivate a passionate and skilled workforce that will serve as custodians of the countryside. There is an urgent need to encourage all young people to take a greater interest in the rural environment, Industry demand is high for those who wish to pursue careers that support sustainable land management, habitat, wildlife, and biodiversity promotion. We are therefore expanding our curriculum to include Agriculture, Forestry, and Arboriculture.”
