General Farm Worker Apprenticeship
Cultivate your agricultural skills by taking up this Apprenticeship and work on livestock farms.
The Agriculture sector is huge and makes up 6% of all UK business, which equates to around 660,000 employees nationwide. Craven College serves a largely rural community so we understand the needs of local employers and their workforce. Opportunities in Agriculture range from working on the traditional smaller farm or specialist farm with rare breeds to the large commercial farm with a variety of animals and crops. Working with livestock, you could be managing a dairy herd, cattle for beef, sheep for both wool and lamb, pigs, poultry, goats, or even alpacas! The work is very interesting, varied and rewarding but you must be prepared for long days, early starts and working in all weather conditions.
As part of the Apprenticeship, you will have monthly workplace visits from a Learning Development Advisor, with 6 hours per week off the job training which will be tracked. You will build a portfolio showing your work-based evidence.
