On Sunday 03 and Monday 04 November, College’s Year 2 Performing Arts students delighted audiences with their performance of The Haunting of Chip Lake Lodge at Colne Little Theatre, Colne.

The Haunting of Chip Lake Lodge performed by Performing Arts Students

Four high school seniors Amy, Jennifer, Stephanie, and Justin arrive at a country lodge for their prom, only to find things start going askew from the start! From arriving at the wrong lodge, to car problems, to phones going dead and disco music playing inexplicable, there can only be one concussion. The lodge is haunted!

The teens are unwittingly drawn into a slightly deranged plot to free the resident spirit from the curse of Chip Lake, if only Justin can overcome his fear of giant rats, they might just save the day! It all leads to a prom night nobody will ever forget.

Superbly planned, rehearsed, and performed by the six-person cast of Jessica Hughes, Heidi Busfield, Scarlett Atkinson, Ashley Brennand, Max Hancox, and Sayge Holden, audience members described the performance as “entertaining.”

Giles Atkinson, Head of Digital, Creative and Public Industries said, “Colne Theatre recently reopened after a £300K Government’s Levelling Up Fund and it was a great opportunity for the students to perform their production working alongside the local industry and community to help keep small local theatres like Colne Little Theatre open.

Our students were delighted to share their experiences of the production: –

Ashley Brennand said: “I have really enjoyed working on this show and the and the extra opportunities it has given me, I have also loved working with such a small but talented cast!”

Scarlett Atkinson said: “I really enjoyed doing a play where everyone’s character in terms of significance was equal and I would definitely do a show like that again if the opportunity came up.

Sayge Holden added: “Working as a cast to put together a show was a brilliant experience and one I’ll never forget!”

Heidi Busfield said: “I really enjoyed the process of working together with the director to create a show with a bit of us all in!”

If you’d like to take your next steps and share your creative and performing abilities, our Performing Arts courses are now taking application for September 2025.
