Students Take to Catwalk for Great Cause!

On 8 October a group of 50 students from Craven College took part in the Catwalk for CSY (Cancer Support Yorkshire) at the beautiful Skipton Hotel – with students from Fashion & Textiles, Performing Arts, and Media Make-up bringing their skills to the event it was a true cross-College collaboration.

The event was billed as an evening of fashion, fine food, and fundraising all in support of Cancer Support Yorkshire and it was an incredibly special and memorable occasion for all our students.

Our students had the opportunity to be involved in roles from performing, styling, applying make-up, making alterations, coordinating backstage and even stepping out on to the catwalk, meaning everyone of them could contribute in a meaningful way to the success of the evening, and ultimately raising money for a wonderful cause.

Cancer Support Yorkshire is a local charity offering vital practical and emotional support to help patients and their families to live well with – and beyond – a cancer diagnosis.

Victoria Sacks, Enrichment Officer at Craven College said, “I wanted to send a heartfelt thank you to everyone who made Catwalk for CSY such a special and memorable occasion. The facilities, venue and organisation were fantastic, and we are so grateful for the support, encouragement and generosity shown to our students throughout the whole experience.

“We are so proud of every single one of our amazing students. For those who were frightened, anxious or doubting whether they could do it, watching them take that courageous step was truly special. They faced their fears, supported one another and showed such resilience, creativity and determination. The confidence they demonstrated on the night was a testament to their hard work and the encouragement of those around them.”

Kerry Jones Kensah, CEO of Cancer Support Yorkshire added, “The young people were absolutely fantastic. Their creativity, professionalism, courage and teamwork shone throughout the day and evening, and they should all feel incredibly proud of what they achieved.

 “Victoria, a very special thank you to you for everything you achieved in such a short space of time. Organising the models, hair and makeup, and rallying the college staff and students was no small task. Your commitment, energy and care brought everyone together and played a huge part in making the event so special.”

We are delighted to confirm that the evening raised a fabulous £2163 – which will make such a difference to the lives of people and families supported by Cancer Support Yorkshire.
