We started offering T Levels in Electrotechnical Engineering (Electrical Installation) and Education and Childcare – Early Years Educator in September 2024, and our first cohorts finished their two-year courses and gained their qualifications this summer.

T Levels are a two-year course available to young people following their GCSEs. Broadly equivalent in size to 3 A Levels and accruing UCAS points, T Levels are developed in collaboration with employers to ensure that students are equipped with the skills they need.

Offering a mix of classroom learning and “on the job” experience, these qualifications deliver a rounded learning experience. With a T Level qualification, students can progress to higher study, an apprenticeship, or even straight into the world of skilled work.

We are always working on expanding our T Level offering and courses now available to students include Animal Care & Management, Craft & Design – Ceramics Maker, Craft & Design – Textile & Fashion Maker, and Digital Software Development.

Our T Level students have had some amazing results. Since the Early Years Educator T Level started 2 years ago, the course has an incredible 100% pass rate, with Year 2 all achieving merits. An incredible 40% of the Year 1 students achieved the top grades possible in their first year. Our students completing their course this Summer gained a superb overall Merit (equivalent to an A Level BBB) across the board.

Leanne Thursby, Lecturer in Early Years said, “The T Level in Early Years offers a rigorous and academically demanding curriculum that integrates theoretical knowledge with extensive industry placement experience, enabling learners to develop the professional competencies required for progression into higher education and skilled employment within the sector.

“The strength of the programme is reflected in the department’s exceptional outcomes, with a 100% pass rate this year, including one A* and two A grades, demonstrating both high levels of learner achievement and effective preparation for future study and professional practice.”

Throughout this week we’ll be celebrating our students and sharing content with the hashtag #TLevelsWeek
