Students Learn Vital Skills

Published 22 April

Health and Social Care students were absolutely thrilled to welcome a Volunteer and Community Engagement Officer from the British Red Cross to campus for a Youth First Aid educational workshop.

These vital sessions help students learn essential first aid skills. Students are led through a series of tasks aimed at building confidence and willingness to help someone in an emergency using everyday objects.

Health and Social Care students dived headfirst into the session and really engaged with the knowledge and tools they were given to protect and support others.

Chelsea Wallace, Lecturer in Health & Social Care and Advanced Practitioner said, “Whether they’re heading into professional healthcare roles or supporting their local community, we believe every student should have the confidence and skill to provide lifesaving first aid.”

In Health and Social Care, these skills are a vital necessity ensuring our students can act decisively and compassionately to protect the most vulnerable in any emergency.”
