Craven College Hosts Peace Meal

Published 21 April

This week staff, students and invited guests joined together for a Peace Meal.

Now in its second year, this wonderful event gives the opportunity for local Faith Leaders and members of the community to visit College, share some delicious food and spend a peaceful time talking, sharing experiences and ideas, and bridging gaps in the community.

Peace Meal

Our amazing Catering students and tutors made some wonderful food including aubergine curry, moussaka, jambalaya, seitan curry, and paella– a huge thank you to Will Jacques for his support! In addition, guests were invited to bring their own special dishes to truly immerse the group in the spirit of sharing and inclusivity.

Guests included and members of our Student Executive were delighted with the opportunity to meet and chat with our guests.

Victoria Alderson, Enrichment Officer said, “Attending the Peace Meal gave our students a rare chance to witness what real-world coll65aboration looks like – where faith leaders and community leaders come together, not just to talk, but to listen, understand, and build bridges.

Students gained insight into respectful dialogue, community leadership, and the power of shared ideas, lessons that simply can’t be taught in a classroom.”

Rosemary Simpson, Student Experience & Inclusion Manager added, “A shared meal may seem simple, yet it carries deep meaning. It creates space for conversation, for understanding, and for connection. Around a table, differences become less of a barrier and more of an invitation to learn, to listen, and to grow

At Craven College, our diversity is one of our greatest strengths. Each person here brings their own story, their own perspective, and their own voice. When we take the time to value and understand one another, we create not just a College, but a community grounded in respect and belonging.”
