Looking to start a career in care or support someone living with dementia? Gain the knowledge and confidence to make a real difference.

This course provides essential knowledge and understanding of dementia and how to support individuals with care, dignity and respect. It is suitable for those considering a career in health and social care, as well as individuals with a personal interest in the subject.

Delivered in a supportive learning environment, the course will help you develop confidence and practical understanding of how dementia affects individuals. You will learn how to support wellbeing and communicate effectively, helping you to provide person-centred care in a variety of settings.

What you’ll cover:

  • Understanding dementia and its impact
  • Person-centred care approaches
  • Communication skills when supporting individuals with dementia
  • Behaviour and support strategies
  • Promoting wellbeing and inclusion

Assessment is coursework-based with no exams.

By the end of the course, you will have gained a recognised qualification and the knowledge needed to begin or progress in a rewarding career in care.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements. This course is suitable for beginners, career changers, current care staff or those supporting someone with dementia.

Further Study

On completion of this course, you may wish to progress to:

  • Level 2 or Level 3 Health and Social Care courses
  • Specialist dementia training
  • Roles such as Care Assistant, Support Worker or Healthcare Assistant
