Students Step Into The ORGAN LAB!
The ORGAN LAB by the Dissection Guy is a live dissection event designed specifically for T Level and BTEC students studying towards higher education with an ambition to pursue a career in the healthcare professions. The interactive events aim to bring anatomy to life through in-person dissection workshops matched directly to major UK exam specifications.

Throughout the sessions students learned the principles of health and disease from the perspective of nurses, midwives, paramedics, and occupational therapists through a range of dissection activities using organs of ovine origin.
The event was the perfect opportunity for students intending to progress to any field of science which requires an understanding of anatomy, or even for those who were simply curious!
Simon Reed, Access to HE Programme Lead and Science Lecturer said, “The ORGAN LAB session offered students an exciting and immersive hands-on experience, giving them the opportunity to dissect a variety of organs using university-level techniques. Guided throughout, students explored the structure and function of each organ while gaining insight into the impact of different diseases and disorders. The session proved to be highly engaging and inspiring, with students thoroughly enjoying the experience. Each participant was also awarded a certificate to support and strengthen their future university applications.”

Stephanie McKay, Head of Department – Caring Professions added “The Department of Caring Professions were excited to offer this exciting event once again. This immersive learning experience brings anatomy to life and is aimed at students studying various qualifications including Applied Science, Access to Health Professions, and Health & Social Care. The ORGAN LAB transforms theory into real understanding through an interactive anatomical experience. Beyond anatomy, The ORGAN LAB builds confidence, strengthens career aspirations, and gives students a real-world understanding of healthcare that stays with them long after the session.
“Bringing together students from different courses encourages collaboration and sharing perspectives, which mirrors real healthcare teams. As Head of Department, it’s fantastic to see students so engaged when their anatomy theory is brought to life, allowing them to connect their learning to real clinical practice.”
