Students get Runway Ready at the Mill

Published 05 December

Students from departments in fashion and textiles, photography, graphics, and media makeup visited Skipton’s High Corn Mill last week, a trip to kick off preparation for an exciting new project and collaboration with the venue.

The group were given a guided tour and gathered a range of research for their new project ‘The Mill’. Students will respond to their research to create outcomes in each of their specialisms that celebrate the history, architecture, and machinery of the mill and surrounding areas.

Lecturer in Art & Design, Laura-Lee Brennand said “We will be showcasing our work from this project alongside other work produced this year at our end-of-the-year fashion show. This year the show will be held at EK at the Mill. It’s such a beautiful space and will be the source of all our creative ideas for the project. Thank you to Andrew, Gary and Rebecca at the mill for the tour.”

The students will work individually to create projects dependent on their subject specialism, projects may centre around an outfit, soft sculpture, photograph, make-up looks, or a wig for the show.

The fashion show will be held on Wednesday 08 May 2024. For event details and booking information, keep checking the College website.
