Head of Department – Land-based
Joanna Baxter title

I’ve been riding since childhood where I came up through the Pony Club ranks and competed nationally. At university, I developed a special interest in biomechanical research. My specialist areas are dressage, showjumping, cross country and equitation teaching. and I’m involved with the British Horse Society standard setting. As Head of Land-based studies at Craven College, it’s really interesting getting more involved with the other areas, as I am from a farming background.

My Qualifications...
  • MSc in Sports & Exercise Biomechanics

  • BHS Stable Manager’s Certificate

  • Post Graduate Certificate in Education

  • BSc (Honours) in Equine Science & Management

  • BHS Intermediate Instructors Certificate

Did you know...
  • I compete within British Eventing and British Dressage, and all the horses I ride seem to be grey, which means lots of shampoo!!
  • When I was really young I competed in the Prince Philip Cup Games and met Prince Philip
