Students Explore Their Futures at UCAS Discovery Event

Published 29 June

Students from Health and Social Care and Science enjoyed an inspiring day at the UCAS Discovery Event, held at Leeds Beckett University.

UCAS Discovery Day

The event gave students the opportunity to explore the wide range of options available to them after college. They met representatives from universities, colleges, apprenticeship providers and employers, gaining valuable information about higher education, training and future career pathways.

Throughout the day, students asked questions about university courses, entry requirements, student finance, accommodation and university life. They also collected information to support their future applications and help them make informed decisions about their next steps.

For our Health and Social Care and Science students, the event was a valuable chance to investigate courses and careers linked to their areas of study, including nursing, healthcare, social work, biomedical science and other science-related professions.

Lucy Woodhead, Deputy Head of Department – Caring Professions said, “This visit formed part of the students’ enrichment programme and helped to build their confidence, independence and aspirations. It was a positive and engaging day that encouraged students to think carefully and ambitiously about their future education and careers.
