Industry Expert Shares In-Depth Knowledge

Level 3 Travel and Tourism students were treated to an afternoon of industry expertise with a visit from Jordan Grey from The Coniston Hotel Country Estate & Spa to share his insights into the hospitality and tourism industry.

Jordan presented to the students and shared his vast wealth of experience and knowledge giving them a real insight into the sector and possible career opportunities.

Sarah Burgess, Lecturer in Travel, Tourism and Aviation said “Raising awareness of career opportunities, different industries and local businesses through guest speakers and visits is helping our students in numerous ways. They are gaining knowledge that they are using in the classroom and in their assignments as well as experiencing real life opportunities and meeting people from industry, many who started out just like them.

“These interactions are helping them to build confidence and develop communication skills as well as creating memories. Building these links is also helping to widen our work experience options with students securing some fantastic, worthwhile placements as well as providing more opportunities and projects for students moving forward.

“Our recent guest speaker Jordan from The Coniston really inspired our students on how quickly they could rise to management levels, another great talk to add to our ever-growing list of enrichment activities.”
