This week Level 3 College students and their families had the opportunity to explore further pathways for learning or progression by attending the Higher Education Discovery Day.
Students had the change to discuss their future plans with exhibitors at a range of stands and attend workshops to help them make the all-important decisions.
Exhibitors included Craven College’s own Higher Education and Apprenticeship team, alongside Salford University, University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN), The Open University, University of Bradford, Northern College of Art, Teesside University, University of Huddersfield, Coventry University, Leeds University Centre, York St John’s University, University of Sunderland, dBs Institute Manchester, the NHS, YPP, Transdev, Army Careers, Edge Hill University, The University of Law, and University of Cumbria.
Students were invited to attend various workshops, packed with helpful information about their future steps. Presentations available were: –

- Introduction to Higher Education (Teesside University)
- Routes into Teaching (Leeds University Centre)
Amanda Carr, Careers Manager said, “Craven College was proud to run a HE Discovery Event on 26 November for students and their families to explore all the progression routes after completing their courses. With 20 stands made up of universities, employers and providers, there were also workshops running on Higher Apprenticeships and Vocational routes, Degree Apprenticeships, Student Finance and funding, Open University routes, the support available at university, Getting into a Creative Degree, Intro to HE and Writing Personal Statements.
“A fabulous 167 students attended, some with members of their families and most saying how “helpful” and “thought provoking” this was for them.”
