College Alumna Riding High!
We always love to hear about our former students, and what they have been up to since they left Craven College and we were delighted to hear from Lucy Sullivan, who completed a Foundation Degree in Equine Science.

After obtaining her degree at Craven College, Lucy went on to work for a mixed veterinary practice in the Yorkshire Dales which specialised in farm, equine, and small animals. Her role was equine nursing, on call TPR nurse, lab, and administrative position in the equine office. Having worked across various equine settings from livery yards, riding schools to stud yards, competing both her own and other people’s horses. Lucy gained a vast amount of knowledge and experience in England and USA. During this time, she owned her first working Labrador who was diagnosed with Elbow Dysplasia from a young age, which is where Lucy’s passion and enthusiasm for animal rehabilitation started.
A medical science background expanded her knowledge and drive to thrive in all areas while working in private hospitals in operating theatres and various departments, gaining knowledge and experience in surgery, anatomy, and physiotherapy. Lucy was HCA in theatres assisting scrub nurses and surgeons, clerical role of day to day running of the department. She then went on to gain a hydrotherapy qualification for small animals, K-Laser Therapy training, and massage & conditioning training.
Lucy now has over 10 years of experience in hydrotherapy and rehabilitation and after running a rehabilitation centre for a corporate company this gave her the background knowledge to take a big step and setup her own rehabilitation centre, Valley Animal Therapy.
Lucy says, “Valley Animal Therapy Limited was born July 2023, and I have not looked back since. By having my own business this has given me the opportunity to offer more services and work with more animals ranging from small animal to farm, equine & working, offering a better service.”

Head of Land-based Provision Danielle Fox added, “Hearing from our past students fills us with pride. Their academic and professional achievements are a testament to their hard work and dedication. Each success story serves as an inspiration to current and future students, showcasing the unlimited possibilities that come with perseverance and passion. Here at Craven College, we are keen to continue fostering an environment where every individual can thrive and reach their full potential.”
