Looking for a career change or want to learn how to care for your own dog? Start your journey into professional dog grooming with this practical Level 2 qualification.
This course is designed to provide you with the essential skills and knowledge needed to begin a career in the dog grooming industry. You will learn how to work safely and effectively in a professional grooming environment, preparing you to assist in a salon under supervision.
Training takes place in a well-equipped grooming salon where you will work with real dogs, allowing you to gain valuable hands-on experience. With guidance from experienced tutors, you will develop confidence in handling, grooming and caring for dogs while building industry-relevant skills.
By the end of the course, you will be equipped with the practical experience and knowledge required to take your first steps into the dog grooming profession.
You will undertake assessments to demonstrate your knowledge and skills in the following mandatory units:
- Preparing and grooming dogs prior to bathing
- Bathing and cleaning dogs
- Cleaning and maintaining grooming equipment
- Controlling and restraining animals safely
- Drying dogs and preparing coats for styling
- Carrying out basic trimming of a dog’s coat
Training takes place in a real working salon environment. You will be working with live animals, so a calm and patient approach is essential.
You will complete practical and knowledge-based assessments throughout the course to achieve your qualification.
Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements. This course is suitable for those starting out in dog grooming or looking to change career.
