The 3 Peaks Bistro has returned to Craven College to offer members of the public the chance to sample great quality, freshly produced food made from locally sourced and seasonal ingredients at very competitive prices.
The Bistro is operated by students from Catering and Hospitality courses, providing them with the opportunity to develop their practical skills and gain valuable experience in a busy professional kitchen and restaurant environment.
One of our customers at this year’s opening night, Marie Lebacq left us a superb review of her experiences: –
“Part way through a busy week, I really fancied a mid-week treat, so I booked a table for two for my partner and I to sample the autumn menu. We were not disappointed, my partner chose as his starter, pigeon breast with black pudding, roast beets, celeriac, squash, shallots, rocket, and balsamic vinegar. He found it tasty and well balanced and was a well-judged portion size. I had the wild mushroom risotto with parmesan crisp. Risotto is hard to do well, but this was lovely and creamy with the right amount of bite and the parmesan crisp was a light compliment.
“For mains, my partner had filet of pork wrapped in bacon, with caramelized apples, root vegetables and potato purée, which he said was well cooked and nicely presented. I had panfried coley with creamed leeks garden peas and mussels. The fish was substantial and tasty and the sauce rich and buttery.
“Finally for dessert, Nick had sticky toffee pudding. As it happens, he is very particular about his sticky toffee pudding, and he did not find this one wanting. The sponge was not overly sweet, contained plenty of dates and was complimented by a sauce that was the perfect foil. I had the pear tart tatin with homemade black pepper ice-cream. My favourite dish of the evening. It was excellent.
“The table service was friendly and helpful. I fully intend to book a table in December for their Christmas Menu and as the year unfolds to sample their spring and summer menus.”
Everyone involved in the evening was absolutely thrilled to receive such a great review on the first night of the season and are really grateful to Marie and her partner for taking the time not only to visit the Bistro but to leave their glowing review.
As Marie says, “So why not have a great evening out and at the same time show your support for the future master-chefs and restauranteurs of North Yorkshire!”
