Sports Students Enjoy Spanish Adventure
Our Sports students have recently returned from an unforgettable trip to Barcelona and the surrounding areas. Designed to take learning beyond the classroom, this experience provided students with invaluable real-world insight into sport, culture, and personal development.

Throughout the trip, learners developed greater independence and personal responsibility, while enhancing key skills such as teamwork, communication, and leadership. They also benefited from exposure to elite sporting environments and gained a deeper understanding of the global sports industry.
The itinerary was carefully designed to combine both enrichment and enjoyment, featuring a wide range of exciting activities, including:
- Training and competitive sport at Tipi Park, incorporating football, padel, and gym-based sessions.
- Team-building experiences such as tenpin bowling, arcade challenges, and group activities
- Beach sports, including volleyball and beach football.
- A professional stadium tour of RCD Espanyol
- A visit to the Olympic Museum, exploring the history and legacy of elite sport.
- A full day at PortAventura theme park
- Cultural exploration of local markets and key areas within the city
As part of the sporting programme, our female learners participated in netball activities, while our male learners prepared for and competed in an international fixture against Palafrugell Academy. An outstanding opportunity to experience competitive sport abroad.

In addition, plenty of free time allowed learners to further develop independence, confidence, and decision-making skills within a new and exciting environment.
Adam Platt, Lecturer in Sport said, “The trip was a tremendous success, with our students representing the college with professionalism and pride throughout. Experiences like this play a vital role in developing not only skilled athletes, but confident, well-rounded individuals ready to pursue future opportunities in sport and beyond.”
Nikki Chestnutt, Head of Professional and Leisure Industries added, “This trip allowed students to experience sports in a different context. Stretching on sand before a football match gives muscles a different kind of workout!”
