This qualification is designed to provide an opportunity for learners to demonstrate their skills and understanding of providing high-level care to animals in a veterinary environment, assisting Veterinary Nurses and Veterinary Surgeons. It will take approximately 18-24 months to achieve.

  • Legislation and Safe Working Practices
  • Animal Health and Welfare
  • Animal Environment and Accommodation
  • Induction to Patient Care
  • Introduction to Animal Anatomy and Physiology
  • Veterinary Care Support
  • Assisting with Laboratory Procedures
  • Assisting with Diagnostic Imaging
  • Techniques in Medical Patient Care
  • Techniques in Surgical Patient Care

Entry Requirements

Whilst there are no formal entry requirements to enrol on this course you must already be working in a veterinary practice.

Further Study

The qualification may be used as a stepping stone onto VetSkill’s Level 3 Diploma in Veterinary Nursing (Companion Animal) qualification, subject to additional entry conditions being met.
