Develop your understanding of special educational needs and disability and learn how to support individuals to live independent and fulfilling lives.
This qualification is designed to help you develop knowledge and understanding of special educational needs and disability (SEND). You will explore how individuals with SEND may be affected in their day-to-day lives and learn how to provide appropriate support using inclusive and person-centred approaches.
The course is suitable if you work, or would like to work, in settings such as education, health, social care or community support. Studying online gives you the flexibility to learn at a time and pace that suits your work or home commitments, while still receiving structured support from experienced tutors.
What you’ll cover:
- Introduction to Special Educational Needs and Disability
- Living with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities
- Principles of promoting a person-centred approach for individuals with SEND
- Understanding equality and diversity in the context of SEND
- Understanding SEND and learning
For each unit, you will complete a set of knowledge-based questions as part of the formal assessment. Your tutor will provide feedback after each unit. All assessments must be completed and passed to successfully achieve the qualification.
Entry Requirements
Level 1 or equivalent English language and Maths qualification required.
