Would you like to support communities to enable them to access public services?

The role of the community interpreter is becoming increasingly important, particularly in regions with many minority linguistic communities. Achieving this qualification is your opportunity to have the skills to be able to help your community.

During this course you will learn about the following:

  • Introduction to Working as a Bilingual Volunteer
  • English Language for Community Interpreters
  • Understanding Public Services in the UK
  • Assertiveness and Listening Skills for Community Interpreters

You will also work towards two qualifications:

  • Level 1 Award in Understanding Community Interpreting
  • Level 2 Certificate in Preparing for the Community Interpreting Role

It is expected that students will complete homework outside of the classroom.

Entry Requirements

  • You will need to have an initial assessment to ensure that you are on the correct course. 
  • Commitment to the full duration of the course is required.
