UPS Students Enjoy a Powerful and Unforgettable Experience in Kraków
Last week, lecturers and 20 Uniformed Public Services students undertook an unforgettable and deeply moving visit to Kraków, Poland. This historical military visit provided our students with an opportunity to explore some of the most significant and sobering sites of World War II.

During their time in Kraków, students participated in an incredible and emotional visit to Auschwitz and Birkenau where they witnessed first-hand the harrowing realities of the Holocaust. They also explored the Gestapo Headquarters gaining insight into the brutal occupation of Poland.
Alongside these visits students enjoyed a guided tour of the city’s Arena, and walked through the historic Jewish Quarter, learning about the area’s rich cultural heritage and its tragic past.
The trip was more than just an educational experience, it was a chance for students to reflect on history, consider its impact on the present and develop a deeper understanding of resilience and remembrance.

Heather Marsden, Lecturer in Sport, Fitness, and Personal Training said, “A huge thank you to everyone who made this trip possible, and to our students for their engagement, respect, and willingness to learn. Experiences like these shape perspectives in ways that textbooks never can.”
