Students Take on Outdoor Adventures at Doe Park
Uniformed Public Services (UPS) and Sports students recently participated in an exciting day of outdoor activities at Doe Park Water Activities Centre in Denholme.
Activities during the visit included kayaking, paddleboarding, rock climbing, high ropes, and abseiling. The adventure-packed day challenged our students both physically and mentally while fostering key skills such as teamwork, leadership, and resilience.
The day began with kayaking, where students quickly adapted to paddling, steering and balancing the kayaks, enjoying navigating the calm waters. Paddleboarding followed, testing their ability to stay upright while paddling across the lake, with plenty of splashes and laughter along the way.
On land, rock climbing pushed students to overcome their fears and reach new heights. Trusting in their equipment and problem-solving helped them climb the rock wall. The high ropes course added another layer of excitement, as students navigated obstacles high above the ground, building confidence with every step.
The day ended with abseiling, where students descended from a tall structure, testing their control and trust in the ropes.
Steve Wilson Lecturer in UPS said, “Doe Park’s adventure day proved to be a fun and transformative experience, helping students build confidence and strengthen bonds with their peers. Each activity brought a sense of accomplishment and personal growth, leaving students with valuable life skills and memories.”
