Current Public Services students were delighted to welcome Brooke Robinson and Hettie Ruthven, both from the Public Services class of 2018 back to Craven College to share their stories of both their time at College, and how they have progressed in their careers.

Brooke is now a Police Officer, and Hettie and works in Criminal Defence. Students were treated to a fascinating insight into two very difference careers and even got to try on some Police equipment thanks to Brooke!
Hettie Ruthven said, “I came to Craven College with three GCSEs wanting to go into the army, I didn’t even think about studying law as I didn’t think I could get in! I fell in love with the Public Services course and ended up going to university, did an LLB and going on to get my Masters!”
We asked Hettie if she had any advice for students thinking about studying Public Services at Craven College and she said, “Don’t close doors because you don’t think you can get there, the course at Craven and the tutors inspired me to go to university and helped me realise I could do more!”

Dr James Simpkin, Lecturer in Public Services added, “We always try to get as many of our public service alumni in as possible. It’s great to catch up and see how our former students are doing, and for our current students to see how with hard work and determination they can go from the classroom to a uniformed public service career too.”
