Sports Students Take on the Brit Challenge!

Published 01 April

Our Year 1 and Year 2 sports students took part in the Brit Challenge to test their sporting prowess.

BRIT Challenge

The British Inspiration Trust (BRIT) exists to support and improve the mental health, fitness, and wellbeing, of young adults, students, and staff, throughout the UK. The annual BRIT Challenge is an inclusive feel-good fundraiser to improve mental health and fitness, all whilst raising vital funds for local, regional, and national charities, alongside BRIT.

Every UK university, college, specialist college and Students’ Union are invited to register to take part, enter teams, and support student and staff participation, both on campus or at home.

We have recently been able to purchase some new sporting equipment thanks to a very generous donation from Skipton Mechanics’ Institute, including a new bench press and some sets of weights.

2025 is Craven College’s 200th anniversary, with our roots in the Skipton Mechanics’ Institute so it’s very fitting in this special year we’re able to participate in events like the Brit Challenge through an ongoing relationship.

Students were put through their paces with 11 stations, moving clockwise through the activities, and showing off their strength, stamina, and form.

Greg Aspin, Head of Department: Sport, Uniformed Protective Services & Business, “Sport students took part in the BRIT Challenge to support both their physical and mental well-being while contributing to an important cause. The challenge encourages teamwork, resilience, and a sense of community, which are essential qualities for their studies and future careers in sport.

“Engaging in this event helps students stay active, manage stress, and develop leadership and communication skills, all of which enhance their academic performance and personal growth.”
