The Sports Department wound down for Summer with a crunch fixture; the Craven College Staff vs Students football match.
Played at Sandylands, the fixture followed a presentation to recognise achievement for the academic year.
Two committed and focused sides took to the pitch, to demonstrate their commitment to health, fitness, and winning mindset.
After a tense match, with no quarter given, scores remained all square at the final whistle meaning the drama of a penalty shootout. Penalty takers and keepers stepped up to the plate, with students emerging victorious by a single goal.
We spoke to Greg Aspin, Head of Public Services, Sport, and Business for the after-match interview. Greg said, “The recent staff vs. students football game was a tremendous success, bringing together the college community in a spirited and friendly competition. Both teams displayed impressive skill and sportsmanship, with students showcasing their agility and staff demonstrating seasoned tactics.
The game fostered camaraderie, mutual respect, and team spirit, making it an enjoyable and memorable event for everyone involved. It also provided a unique opportunity for students and staff to bond outside the usual academic setting, strengthening relationships and promoting a positive college culture.”
Let’s hope England can emulate the success of the Craven College students, without the stress of a penalty shootout!
