Diane Elwiss
I began my hairdressing career as a Saturday girl in a salon in Burley in Wharfedale when I left school I was taken on as an Apprentice in the same salon. I finished my 3 years of training and was promoted to a stylist. I stayed with the salon for 8 years until I left later starting my own salon. I really enjoyed my role with the industry and have worked with a variety of creative stylists. I began my journey in education in 1995 where I began with my first teacher training course. I began teaching at Craven College in 2003 where I was involved in teaching hairdressing skills to all levels of students. The role of teaching hairdressing and barbering to students was very rewarding and even more satisfying when I was able to be a part of a student’s progression from a learner to a stylist and salon owner.
