Develop your understanding of diabetes and learn how to support effective care, management and healthy lifestyle choices.

This course is designed to help you develop knowledge and understanding of the different types of diabetes and how they can occur. You will explore how the onset of Type 2 diabetes can be delayed or prevented through lifestyle changes, and gain insight into diagnosis and early intervention.

You will also learn about the ongoing care and treatment of diabetes, including how blood sugar levels are managed and monitored. This course is suitable if you are working, or would like to work, in health, social care or support roles, or if you want to improve your general understanding of diabetes and its impact.

Studying online gives you the flexibility to learn at a time and pace that suits your work or home commitments, while still receiving structured support from experienced tutors.

What you’ll cover:

  • Understanding diabetes
  • Prevention and early intervention of Type 2 diabetes
  • Understanding initial care of diabetes
  • Understanding the treatment and management of diabetes

For each unit, you will complete a set of knowledge-based questions as part of the formal assessment. Your tutor will provide feedback after each unit. All assessments must be completed and passed to successfully achieve the qualification.

Entry Requirements

Level 1 or equivalent English language qualification required.
