Using still life objects, develop skills in painting using oil paints. Learn how to colour mix and use different mediums. Learn about different supports – canvas, board, paper.
Using still life objects such as vases, vessels, fruit and veg you will learn to develop your oil painting skills. You will be taught how to colour mix, apply different thinning and mixing agents and how to prepare surfaces for painting on.
The course will cover
- Basic principles of painting – composition, scale, proportion and colour mixing
- Use of mediums and thinners applied to oil paints
- The preparation of oil paint surfaces for canvas, wood and paper
- Examples of historical and contemporary still life painters
