This qualification aims to introduce learners to the use of counselling skills in everyday life and work, and some of the approaches that underpin the use of these skills.

It gives learners the opportunity to investigate the knowledge and skills needed to use counselling skills and engage in a helping interaction appropriately. Please note that this qualification does not qualify learners to practise as a counsellor.

  • Developing self-understanding and personal qualities
  • Identifying and accessing support
  • Core counselling skills
  • Demonstrating counselling skills
  • Introduction to counselling skills and theories
  • Diversity and ethics

For each unit, a set of knowledge questions are issued as the formal assessment. Your tutor will provide feedback following the completion of each. All assessments must be completed and passed in order for you to successfully achieve the qualification.
