Students Participate in Exceptional Learning Opportunities
Our Sport & Public Services students recently spent four days in Berlin, where they immersed themselves in the city’s rich history and cultural heritage.
The trip included a walking tour of Berlin, a tour of the iconic Olympic Stadium, exploring significant historical sights, and a guided visit to the Wallmuseum – Haus at Checkpoint Charlie.
They also had the solemn experience of visiting Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp. In East Berlin, they explored the Stasi Prison, gaining insight into the city’s complex past. The students also visited the Holocaust Memorial and the Topography of Terror, further deepening their understanding of Berlin’s history.
Adam Platt, Lecturer in Public Services said, “International trips provide Sport and Public Services students with exceptional learning opportunities, enabling them to bridge the gap between classroom theory and real-world history and culture. By visiting significant sites in sports and uniformed protective service history, students gain a deeper understanding of their fields while cultivating global awareness, teamwork, and leadership skills.
“Whether exploring renowned sports venues or historic military landmarks, these trips inspire students by immersing them in the rich traditions of their professions, helping them to appreciate the resilience, strategy, and commitment that have shaped both sports and public services over time.”
This year’s students will be once again making an incredible trip, this time to Poland. If you’re interested in finding out more about our Sports and Public Services courses, please visit our course pages.
