Esports students enjoyed an enrichment day recently when former Craven College student Jacob Marchewka returned to College to deliver a workshop on Adobe Creative Cloud, displaying work that he had created for his college coursework and social media posts for the Craven College Crusaders.
Jacob then spent time working with students to help them develop their skills. This is a key part of their learning journey and helps them with skills in industry recognised software for progression opportunities such as graphic design, marketing and advertising, branding, event promotion, and games design.
After a great morning, students were joined in the afternoon by Rainbow Six Siege professional coach Lewis “Velocityyy” Westbrook to discuss coaching tactics, strategies, and setting the students a coaching task. This is an excellent opportunity for students to learn about the coaching side of esports and giving tips and tricks they can take into their own college projects and possible future esports careers.
Chris Wright, Lecturer in IT and eSports said “It’s been a great day for the students with several aspects of the esports industry explored. Students got chance to work on industry standard designs and created work that showcased what they had learned. In the afternoon, getting time with a professional coach gave students a great insight into esports that we don’t often get to see, showing that esports is more than just gaming.”
