College Launches Direct Bus Route from East Lancashire!
We are partnering with Transdev to launch a new term-time daily direct bus service from East Lancashire to the Aireville Campus, Skipton – the Craven College Express!
Currently around 25% of Craven College students commute from East Lancashire into College, and this bus service aims to make travel easier for students.
Starting from Nelson at 7.30am, this is a bespoke bus service – created through consultation with experts at Transdev – and built fully around our timetables and needs. The service will call at all stops between Colne, Earby, and Barnoldswick, before arriving into College at 8.30am – just in time for students to start the day! The return journey will leave campus at 4.30pm giving students a direct trip home – stopping at all the same stops – after their day has finished.
With various ticketing options starting from just £3 for a one-way journey payable to the onboard driver, to termly bus passes purchased from Aireville Campus, students and their families have the opportunity to use the service flexibly – giving cost effective travel.

When students are planning their next steps, travel is an important part of that process and we hope this dedicated service will make travel to College easier for our current students whilst also making Craven College an attractive, accessible and affordable option for students looking to apply for their next steps.”
Gareth Dixon, Deputy Principal and CEO of Craven College added, “We identified that our students from the west of Skipton were struggling with transport to the College resulting in many not being able to attend their course of choice and not being able to maximise their potential in their chosen area. Through working with Transdev we identified an appropriate route to capture as many current and prospective students as possible between Nelson and Skipton to provide them with access to the learning opportunities available at Craven College.”
Maria Jones, Head of Admissions commented, “Conversations with applicants and their parents made us aware that transport may be a barrier for students travelling in from East Lancashire. This new route will help to make Craven College an even more viable option for them to access the opportunities here, and it has been a really good experience to partner with Transdev to provide this service.”
