A new dedicated bus service
If you’re planning your next steps, how you get there matters. That’s why at Craven College we’ve introduced a new dedicated bus service that connects Nelson, Colne, Earby and Barnoldswick with our Skipton campuses, giving you an easier and stress-free way to get to College.
With free* or discounted travel available for eligible students aged 16–18, you can focus on your course, not the commute.
If you sign up for a termly bus pass you’ll also get unlimited travel throughout East Lancashire and Skipton and can be used at weekends and Bank Holidays too!
The Route
Term-time Monday to Friday only
Nelson Interchange
Depart – 7:30am
Return – 5:30pm
Colne Bus Station
Depart – 7:45am
Return – 5:15pm
Earby Bus Station
Depart – 8:00am
Return – 5:00pm
Barnoldswick Fernlea Avenue
Depart – 8:12am
Return – 4:48pm
Craven College, Skipton
Arrive – 8:30am
Depart – 4:30pm
What you need to know:
Free Bus Pass*
*You man be eligible to claim a free Transdev bus pass.
Available to students with a household income under £33,000 per year**
Travel Bursary
Once you’ve enrolled at College you can apply via ‘Paymystudent’ for a travel bursary that includes a bus pass. Once your travel bursary has been approved, you can obtain your free bus pass from the Student Services Hub in the Whernside building at the start of each term.
Termly Cost
For those not eligible for a travel bursary, these can be purchased from Whernside Reception at the start of each term.
When you need to claim your pass
Students can claim their bus passes from the Student Services Hub in the Whernside Building at the start of each term
Single journey
If you do not wish to apply for a termly bus pass, the journey will cost £3 each way, payable to the driver
ID Badge
You must show your College ID badge to the driver when you board the bus
**Amount correct at time of print
If you do not live on the direct bus route, alternative bus travel options are available across Lancashire, including services from Burnley and Preston. Please refer to the travel support page for further information.
Please note:
Whilst the College and Transdev aims to ensure all buses arrive and depart at the stated times, no guarantee can be given and students should make their own arrangements in the event of failing to catch the service. No compensation will be paid should students miss their bus for any reason.
