Scarborough Apprenticeship Success!
Level 3 Early Years Educator Apprentice Mia Graham has recently completed her studies with Craven College and is pursuing her lifelong plan of working with children!

Mia was already working as a self-employed practitioner in the beauty industry, but when the opportunity of an apprenticeship with Kinder Place Day Nursery in Scarborough arose, she immediately knew it was the best pathway into the career of her dreams.
Our apprenticeship programme involves workplaces collaborating with Craven College to deliver training opportunities to young people whilst they gain vital real-world experience working alongside their studies.
Kinder Place Nursery is a registered Day Nursery with provision for 40 children from 0 to 5 years. They are situated close to the grounds of Scarborough Hospital and provide safe, flexible and affordable childcare for working parents within the NHS and the local community.
Mia said about her experience “Craven College have always been there to help me every step of the way during my apprenticeship; I had regular meetings to ensure I felt safe and comfortable in my workplace and if I needed, I could address any concerns or questions I had about my apprenticeship. Craven College have helped me not only get a distinction in my apprenticeship, but they also helped my pass my mathematics functional skills with a pass. My employer has supplied me with any training that I have needed, and they also recommend me to do free courses if they believe or it will be beneficial for me and help me to gain knowledge in an area, I might need support with.
“I just would like to say a huge thank you to the team at Craven College for helping so much over this past year and helping me to achieve my qualifications!”
A spokesperson for Kinder Place Nursery added, “Mia has been a fantastic asset to our nursery team and has been a massive support to the staff and children. Throughout her studies, we have seen Mia’s confidence and knowledge grow.
“During Mia’s level 3 apprenticeship she has attended Craven College one day every two weeks to support her with her studies. As a setting we worked closely with Craven College who made sure that everything ran smoothly with regular progress checks, even supporting Mia in achieving her maths qualification. It is reassuring to us as a setting that they have been on hand to support both Mia and the nursery.”
Lucy Adens, Apprenticeship Coordinator commented, “Stories like Mia’s are exactly why apprenticeships matter. Seeing a learner come into an apprenticeship with a passion for their chosen career and watching their confidence, knowledge and skills grow throughout their journey is incredibly rewarding. Mia’s achievement of a Level 3 Distinction, is a fantastic example of what can be achieved when a learner is supported, encouraged and given the opportunity to learn in a real workplace. We are incredibly proud of Mia, and it has been a pleasure to be part of her journey.”
