MEDIA BOOTCAMP

With support from lecturers with experience at BBC Radio and YouTube, this 3-day bootcamp has been designed to help you build the skills and knowledge you need to study Media from September 2024. Plus! You will work closely with industry experts working as theatre directors, film directors, screenwriters, and freelance production crew.

25 June 2024: Location, Location, Location!

Every great monster movie needs a city for their creature to destroy! This day will focus on filming landscapes and making your city its own character. You will be using the colleges Canon cameras to create your masterpieces!

26 June 2024: It’s alive!

Now it is time to design and create the monster who will rampage through your city. Using Adobe Creative Cloud, you will draw and design your creatures, before moving to create a 3D plasticine creature. With your plasticine creation you will animate using stop motion animation, just like Aardman studios. You will be working in the colleges TV studio, animating your beast in front of the colleges green screen.

You will work in collaboration with an industry professional from Screen Yorkshire when designing your monsters.

27 June 2024: On the big screen!

Your monster is on a rampage, and you must put a stop to it. First you will compose your short film using Adobe Premier Pro. Then you will work on adding special effects to stop the monster and save the city. You will be given a short introduction to editing and will work on developing your tone and stylising your film. The day will end with your film being screened for all to see!
