Jump into the exciting world of website design and learn how to create your own professional website.
This Level 1 Award in Website Design provides an introduction to the principles of designing and building websites. Throughout the course, you will develop practical digital skills while learning how websites are planned, created and used to communicate information, promote businesses and engage audiences online.
You will explore how effective websites are designed with the user in mind and gain hands-on experience creating web pages using a range of digital tools and techniques. By the end of the course, you will have produced your own website and developed valuable skills that can support further study, employment or personal projects.
The course covers:
- The purpose and features of different types of websites
- How website features improve the user experience
- Planning and designing a website for a specific audience
- Creating web pages using text, images and digital assets
- Adding navigation, hyperlinks and interactive elements
- Testing websites for functionality and usability
- Reviewing and evaluating your website, identifying opportunities for improvement
This qualification is assessed through a portfolio of evidence. You will demonstrate your knowledge and practical skills through a range of activities and tasks completed throughout the course.
Entry Requirements
- No previous qualifications or experience in website design are required
- The course is suitable for individuals with basic computer skills who would like to develop their confidence in creating and managing websites
- All learners will complete an initial assessment to ensure the course is appropriate for their current skills and experience
Information
Laptops will be provided for use during each class throughout the course.
This programme requires a commitment to attend regularly and complete the full 14-week course. You will also be expected to undertake some independent study and homework activities outside of classroom sessions to reinforce learning and support successful completion of the qualification.
Further Study
On completion of this course, you may progress to:
- Level 2 qualifications in Website Design and Development
- Further study in Web Development, Coding, Creative Digital Media, Digital Marketing, Social Media, Graphic Design or Content Creation
- Volunteering opportunities involving website maintenance and digital content creation
