Looking to build a rewarding career supporting children and young people in education? This nationally recognised qualification prepares you to work confidently in schools and colleges.

This qualification is designed for you if you want to work, or are currently working, in a school or college supporting teaching and learning. You will develop the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to support pupils and teaching staff effectively across a range of educational settings.

During the course, you will explore child and young person development, safeguarding, inclusion and effective classroom support. You will gain an understanding of your role within the education setting and how to support learning, behaviour and wellbeing in line with current policies and practices.

This qualification equips you with the knowledge, understanding and practical skills needed to work professionally and confidently within education.

This course requires commitment for the full duration of the programme. You are expected to attend all sessions and complete homework and independent study tasks outside of taught sessions to support learning and progression.

Entry Requirements

  • A suitable school or college placement is essential, as this is a competency‑based qualification. You must have a placement secured before enrolment can take place.
  • You should hold Level 2 or equivalent English and maths qualifications.
  • You will be required to complete an initial assessment or informal discussion prior to enrolment.

There will be breaks during sessions. Please bring your own drink and snack if required.
