Build your understanding of data protection and security and develop the knowledge needed to handle information safely and responsibly.
This qualification is designed to help you develop knowledge and understanding of data protection and data security, which are essential in today’s digital and data-driven workplace.
You will learn about current data protection legislation, how organisations manage data securely, and the risks and consequences associated with poor data handling. The course supports you in developing the knowledge required for roles where handling information safely and responsibly is important.
Studying online gives you flexibility to learn at a time and pace that suits your work or home commitments, while still receiving structured support from experienced tutors.
What you’ll cover:
- Understanding current data protection legislation
- Understanding organisational procedures for handling data
- Understanding threats to ICT systems and data
- Understanding the consequences of not protecting data
For each unit, you will complete a set of knowledge-based questions as part of the formal assessment. Your tutor will provide feedback after each unit. All assessments must be completed and passed to successfully achieve the qualification.

Level 1 or equivalent English language qualification required.
