Student Enjoys Success Outside the Classroom
Education and Childcare – Early Years Educator T Level student Emily Moran is enjoying sporting success away from the classroom.

Emily has just returned from the European Karate Championships in Limassol, Cyprus where she represented England – an amazing achievement. This was Emily’s first time at the European Championships, to qualify she had to participate in fight offs with members of her squad, then the Head Coaches made the selections to represent England.
Emily started competing in karate at just three years old after watching her older brother train. She decided to give it a try herself and has never stopped since. She began competing at the age of five and has achieved big titles such as the English and British Champion consecutively over the years.
Training at Quest Karate Club in Skipton, Emily’s dedication to the sport has continued to grow and she was delighted to finally achieve her dream of representing England.
Emily is currently studying in her first year of the Early Years Educator T Level and is planning on completing her qualification and then going to university to study to become a Primary School teacher. Although she trains 3 days a week, Emily is rising to the challenge of fitting in her studies and sport.
Emily said, “Competing at this level for the first time was an amazing experience. I progressed through several tough rounds and narrowly missed out on a bronze medal. Even though I just missed the podium, reaching that stage at such a high-level international competition is a huge achievement and an experience I’m extremely proud of.”
Hannah Coupe, Lecturer in Early Years added, “We are incredibly proud of Emily’s achievements. She has shown outstanding dedication and determination to reach such a high level and compete internationally. As someone who works closely with children, she is a fantastic role model – demonstrating not only excellence, but also the importance of humility, perseverance, and positive attitude., balancing success with a genuine modesty that truly reflects her character.”
Congratulations Emily, we’re all really proud of you and can’t wait to follow your journey!
