Performing Arts Students Wow in Showcase!

Published 09 June

Our talented Performing Arts students once again took to the stage to celebrate 200 years of Craven College, by producing a Variety Showcase, a night of entertainment featuring our talented singers, dancers, actors, and a range of other exciting acts!

Expertly compered by Ashley Brennand and Sayge Holden, the audience were treated to a fascinating range of pieces. The set list was created by Performing Arts students, with each performer choosing something they enjoyed doing to celebrate our 200th anniversary.

Students came up with the idea of the showcase to do their part in joining in this year of celebrations, whilst raising money for 3 charities close to their hearts: The Children’s Heart Surgery Fund, Mind, and the Alzheimer’s Society.

Giles Atkinson, Head of Department of Digital, Creative and Public Industries said “On Thursday 05 June our Performing Arts students performed a 200 Year Celebration of Craven College Showcase. The event was organised by themselves, and all ticket sales were given to charity.

The programme included a selection of monologues, duologues and songs from past student work and their own choices. This included Phantom of the Opera, A Streetcar named Desire, Hamilton, Greatest Showman and Wicked plus many more.

The audience consisted of family, friends and College staff and was such a success that next year’s showcase is already being planned for performances in College and the local community.”
