March Events Cement Year Long Celebration Programme
2025 is such a special year for Craven College as we celebrate our 200th birthday and we’re so thrilled that so many staff and students from across every department are coming together to help us mark this momentous occasion.
Our beautiful 200 sculpture, created by so many staff and students, is complete and going on tour around College, starting in Ingleborough. This special piece really reflects the entire College as so many staff and students have made tissue flowers to adorn the base.

Level 2 Equine students treated our horses and ponies with a special 200th birthday cake made in the student hub with Progress and Employability Coach Jayne Ambrose, Enrichment Officer Victoria Alderson and Progression Support Assistant Christina Jones. The students, after researching what was safe for horses to eat, made the cake from oats, horse feed, apples, carrots, honey and maple syrup, combining all the ingredients before decorating with apple segments and finished off with candles fashioned out of carrots.
Always striving to make sessions fun and enjoyable for both students and horses, the Equine Department was very pleased to be part of the celebrations, and the students did a fantastic job as can be seen by the enjoyment of the horses devouring the cake! College horses Carson, Oreo, Jamie, Freddie and liveries Ned, Lola, Orcha, and Norman had a great day being part of the celebrations!

The horses continued to be treated as they received a brand-new jump. Peter Face, Painting & Decorator Tutor and Andrew Barnes, Carpentry and Joinery Tutor and their fantastic students and apprentices created a 200-year themed jump to be used by the equine department and visitors at Craven Arena.
Our Early Years department have been weaving 200 years into their studies. Our Early Years Educator T-Level students have been researching the history of play and how play is an integral part of both child development and child education. They shared their findings with other students in an interactive play-based session.

Whilst HE Young Children’s Learning and Development students investigated the history of the bedtime story! Megan (confirm) and Rebecca Parry both chose their favourite stories from the last 200 years and created their very own CBeebies Bedtime Story!

Health & Social Care students are celebrating 200 years of caring professions by coming together to make a difference to the local community. Their goal is to collect 200 items for the Skipton Foodbank, helping those in need whilst marking our incredible milestone. They are also encouraging the Craven College community to participate in 200 acts of kindness!
Science students have looked at 200 years of scientific research and discovery; looking at how these discoveries have shaped their lessons today!

Finally, Countryside students have been busy and planted 200 trees to represent 200 years of Craven College.
Students have been working hard to develop practical skills, knowledge of tree species and planting techniques, along with their own physical fitness and an understanding of safety regulations for their Woodland Management and Estate Skills units.

Alongside all these special events and activities, College life continues with our Projects Team being shortlisted for the Educate North Awards, Public Services students participating in a powerful and unforgettable experience in Krakow, four very special members of staff receiving a unique invitation, Esports students hosting a tournament for a local school, and Sports students taking on the Brit Challenge!
This year has already proved unforgettable as we mark our 200-year anniversary!
We currently have no courses running this academic year.
